a tragic story of the electronic Bargery ----Nakamura Sule
We had a Hausa-English dictionary of electronic type, based on Bargery's dictionary. It was a result of projects carried out in 1980s at ILCAA, Japan. Professor Matsushita Shu'aibu promoted this project. But unfortunately, less than 10 people had used it until 2000 in the world!!! One of factors leading to this situation might be that it was too Japanese, I mean, the limited condition of hardware. In fact, this dictionary could work only on the NEC-PC9821 architecture.
But in 2001 I made this dictionary work on the PC/AT machine by an emulator. And since last November I've opened the online site of this Bargery. We really hope these would be improved more and more for all the students learning Hausa language in the world. The online Bargery's Hausa-English dictionary & English-Hausa vocabulary is here.
